What is ECO4?

 ECO4 is the Energy Company Obligation (phase 4) – a UK Government scheme that runs from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2026.

It’s designed to tackle fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions by helping low-income or vulnerable households make their homes more energy efficient.

 The scheme is funded by energy suppliers (like British Gas, EDF, EON and Octopus).
They are legally required to invest in home energy improvements for qualifying households.

Homeowners, Private tenants (with landlord’s permission) and Social housing tenants (depending on property type) can all access ECO4 funding.

The scheme focuses on whole-house retrofits, meaning multiple upgrades may be installed to lift your home’s energy efficiency rating. Examples include: Insulation, Heating upgrades, Renewables and
Smart controls.

Some of the benefits of ECO4 include; cutting energy bills for low-income households,
improving the health and wellbeing of residents (warmer, safer homes), and helps the UK meet net zero carbon targets.
